CAESAREA-MEGIDDO. Motor north through Netanya to Caesarea to see the excavations of Roman statues, aqueduct, and theater. Proceed to Megiddo, where archaeologists have recently uncovered strata dating to 4000 B.C. Continue to Mount Carmel and hotel in Haifa. Overnight in Haifa. |

HAIFA-ACRE-SAFAD-GOLAN HEIGHTS-KIBBUTZ. Tour Haifa at the summit of Mount Carmel. Visit the Bahai Center and exotic Persian gardens. Visit the underground's Crypt of St. John at the crusader city of Acre. On to Safad, holy to the Jews since the 16th century; here are found many beautiful ancient synagogues and a renowned artists' colony. Ascend Golan Heights to see Kuneitra and the new Israeli town of Katzrin, before the day ends at Kibbutz. Overnight in Galilee. |
| Day 4 |
NAZARETH-TIBERIAS-BEIT ALPHA-JERICHO-JERUSALEM. Today begins in Nazareth at the Church of the Annunciation. Drive to Capernaum and see remnants of its synagogue and the Church of St. Peter, followed by the Synagogue of the Hamat at Tiberias. Proceed via Beit Shean to Beit Alpha, the Jordan Valley, the biblical ruins at Jericho, then to the holy city of Jerusalem and hotel. Overnight in Jerusalem. |
| Day 5 |
OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM-BETHLEHEM. Visit the traditional tomb of King David and the Cenacle on Mount Zion. Stroll through the newly restored Jewish Quarter and visit the Cardo, the Herodian Quarter, and the Western Wall; then along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Drive around the old city of David, viewing Mount Scopus and Mount of Olives. Then to Bethlehem, stopping at Rachel's tomb and visiting the Church of the Nativity. Overnight in Jerusalem. |

NEW CITY OF JERUSALEM. Visit the Israel Museum, repository for the Shrine of the Book of the Dead Sea scrolls. Next is the Holocaust memorial. See the Hadassah Medical Center's famed Chagall stained-glass windows in Ein Karem, and the scale model of Jerusalem as it was during the Second Temple period. Stops at Israel's Knesset, and the Givat Ram Camps of the Hebrew University. Overnight in Jerusalem. |

QUMRAN-MASADA-DEAD SEA. Drive through the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea. Explore the caves at Qumran, where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered. Proceed to Masada, site of Jewish history's most dramatic act; cable car takes you up to Masada's mount excavations and wilderness. Finally, a chance (time and weather permitting) to float upon the salt-laden buoyancy of the Dead Sea. Return to Jerusalem. Overnight in Jerusalem. |
